Privacy Policy

"Japan Rental Car Navi Helper" (the "Service") has no sign-up and does not itself collect or store personal information that identifies you. However, information may be processed or passed to external services as described below.
1. Information stored only on your device
Saved places (name, coordinates, MAPCODE), recent searches and your language setting are stored only in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to our server. They are deleted when you clear your browser data.
The "share / backup link" puts place names and coordinates in the link (after #). That part is not sent to any server, but anyone who receives the link can see it.
2. Information passed to external services
- Place search, addresses and nearby gas stations: your search text or coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim.
- Map display: your browser connects to OpenFreeMap servers to load map images, which passes connection information such as your IP address.
- Resolving Google Maps short links: the link you paste is passed through our server (Cloudflare) to Google. We don’t store it, but it may appear in our infrastructure provider’s access logs.
3. Usage statistics (Google Analytics)
To improve the Service we use Google Analytics to collect usage statistics such as pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location (country/city level) and feature usage (e.g. copying a MAPCODE, saving, sharing). We do not send search text, coordinates, place names or your saved places, and Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
Google Analytics uses cookies. You can opt out with the browser add-on below.
4. Feedback
What you send through "Send feedback" (type, message, optional reply email, page language, the page you sent it from and the time) is used only to improve the Service and to reply, and is stored on our infrastructure (Cloudflare). We do not store your IP address (a converted value is used for 60 seconds only to prevent repeated submissions).
Please don’t include personal details such as passport or booking numbers.
